New Kingdom businesses started in Nampula, Mozambique

“Miro had a plan. He’d been diligently saving money, quietly nurturing an idea. His goal? To create a second line of business. I was initially concerned when I saw him dabbling in motorcycle taxi services. Had he abandoned tailoring? But I was wrong. Miro had merely been testing the waters, assessing the profitability of the motorcycle taxi venture.”, shares our local leader Ademola from Nampula.

Our team traveled to Nampula, Mozambique, and held a Pioneer Business Planting training from February 19 to 23, 2004. This training, led by Henoc, Raymond, and Gibson, made an impact on the 60 people who attended. We were able to hear some of the empowering stories and the impact of the training. Ademola, our local leader from Mozambique narrates for us the stories and testimonies below of Mama Domingas who is a lady entrepreneur, and Joaquim who is a skilled tailor.

Mama Domingas: A lady entrepreneur who started gaining customers after attending Pioneer Business Planting training in Nampula

Mama Domingas, a middle-aged lady in our house church, runs a humble little shop near the bustling market. Every time I pass by her, my heart aches. Her shop is modest, and she’s often found sleeping amidst her wares. As a single mother of four or five children, life has not been easy for her. But her determination shines through.

When I learned about the training, I knew Mama Domingas had to attend. There was just one problem: she couldn’t afford to close her shop for five days. Undeterred, I insisted, and she reluctantly joined the Pioneer Business Planting training. To my surprise, Mama Domingas was not as illiterate as I had assumed. During the sessions, she diligently copied every word we wrote on those sheets of paper. Even after everyone else had left, she stayed behind, painstakingly transcribing the knowledge shared.

A few days after the training, I visited her shop again. The kiosk was empty, but something had changed. The goods were now meticulously arranged on the floor, catching the eye of passersby. People were buying! I’ve walked by her shop three times since then, and there’s a palpable sense of movement—a newfound energy. I wish I could do more to support Mama Domingas, to provide her with the means to expand her business further. Her creativity knows no bounds, and I believe she can achieve great things.

Joaquim (Miro):  A skilled tailor crafting opportunities

Miro, as we affectionately call him, is a young man in one of our churches. He’s not just a faithful member; he’s also a skilled tailor. Back in 2019, he attended our Pioneer Business training, but I lost track of his progress. Recently, I caught up with him, and his story left me inspired.

Miro had a plan. He’d been diligently saving money, quietly nurturing an idea. His goal? To create a second line of business. I was initially concerned when I saw him dabbling in motorcycle taxi services. Had he abandoned tailoring? But I was wrong. Miro had merely been testing the waters, assessing the profitability of the motorcycle taxi venture. And now, he approached me with a request: a loan of 5000 meticais to add to his savings. With this, he plans to buy a motorcycle, entrust it to another church member for operation, and receive weekly returns. Meanwhile, he’ll continue honing his tailoring skills.

Miro’s entrepreneurial spirit is contagious. He’s not giving up on his craft; he’s expanding his horizons. His determination reminds us that opportunities are everywhere, waiting for those who dare to seize them.

The training we gave in Nampula, Mozambique is more than just workshops; it’s a catalyst for transformation for many of them. Through stories like Mama Domingas and Joaquim (Miro) and many others, we witness lives changed, dreams realized, and communities uplifted.
